The name applejack derives from the traditional method of producing the drink, jacking, the process of freezing fermented cider and then removing the ice, increasing the alcohol content: Cider produced after the fall harvest was left outside during the winter. In the 2010s, a number of smaller craft distilleries began to produce applejack in places such as New Hampshire, Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley, New York's Hudson Valley, Holland, Michigan, and most famously in Toronto at Nickel 9 Distillery. Johnson gave a case of applejack to Soviet leader Alexei Kosygin in the 1967 Glassboro Summit Conference. Roosevelt included applejack in the Manhattans he regularly consumed and Lyndon B. Īpplejack has been associated with four presidents of the United States: After the American Revolution, George Washington requested from Robert Laird his family's recipe for applejack Abraham Lincoln served it during a brief stint as a tavern keeper in Springfield, Illinois Franklin D. In 1931, John Evans Laird received permission to produce apple brandy for "medicinal purposes" and stockpiled its product until the repeal of Prohibition in 1933. In 1920, with the beginning of the Prohibition era, Laird's ended the production of liquor and began producing apple juice. Once popular in early America, applejack declined in popularity due to the rise of other spirits that were easier to manufacture on a commercial basis, including rum and whiskey (especially bourbon) in the 19th century and gin, vodka, and tequila in the 20th century. The oldest licensed applejack distillery in the United States, Laird & Company of Scobeyville, New Jersey, was until the 2000s the country's only remaining producer of applejack, and continues to dominate applejack production. Laird's great-grandson, Robert Laird, who served in the Continental Army, incorporated Laird's Distillery in 1780, after previously operating a tavern. The drink was once known as Jersey Lightning. It is a type of fruit brandy.Īpple brandy was first produced in colonial New Jersey in 1698 by William Laird, a Scots American who settled in Monmouth County. Īpplejack is used in several cocktails, including the Jack Rose. Popular in the American colonial era, the drink's prevalence declined in the 19th and 20th centuries amid competition from other spirits. Additionally, Wifiphisher is designed to be modular, enabling advanced users to write custom code to expand its capabilities. These can be used to collect user credentials for third-party sites or Wi-Fi network credentials. Wifiphisher also enables an attacker to launch web phishing attacks. By convincing wireless users to connect to the rogue access point, Wifiphisher provides an attacker with the ability to intercept and monitor or modify their wireless traffic. Wifiphisher is a tool designed to perform man-in-the-middle attacks by exploiting Wi-Fi association. The last 2020 release significantly re-architected the system to improve performance and add new features. Kismet is supported on all operating systems (using WSL on Windows) and is actively supported. It passively collects packets being broadcast in its vicinity and analyzes them to detect even hidden Wi-Fi networks. Kismet is a wireless network sniffer that works for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, software-defined Radio (SDR) and other wireless protocols. Before running Wifite, it is recommended to install their optional tools as they are essential for running some of the supported attacks. It is designed to work on the Kali Linux and ParrotSec Linux distros. Wifite2 is a complete rewrite of the original Wifite tool. It runs existing wireless hacking tools for you, eliminating the need to memorize and correctly use the different tools with their various options. Wifite is a Python script designed to simplify wireless security auditing. If you follow the steps properly, you should be able to successfully crack a Wi-Fi network protected with WEP. Read the online tutorial on the website to know more about the tool. VMWare Image needs less knowledge, but it only works with a limited set of host OS, and only USB devices are supported.īefore you start using this too, confirm that the wireless card can inject packets. In this case, try Live CD or VMWare image. If you are not comfortable with Linux, you will find it hard to use this tool. If you are using a Linux distribution, the only drawback of the tool is that it requires deeper knowledge of Linux. It supports most of the wireless adapters and is almost guaranteed to work. It comes as Linux distribution, Live CD and VMware image options. The company behind the tool also offers an online tutorial where you can learn how to install and use this tool to crack wireless passwords. To make the attack faster, it implements a standard FMS attack with some optimizations. Once enough packets have been gathered, it tries to recover the password. Aircrack-ng uses the best algorithms to recover wireless passwords by capturing packets. These are the popular tools used for wireless password cracking and network troubleshooting.Īircrack-ng is one of the most popular wireless password cracking tools that you can use for 802.11a/b/g WEP and WPA cracking. The other kind of tool is used to hack WEP/WPA keys. One can be used to sniff the network and monitor what is happening in the network. These tools can either take advantage of WEP weaknesses or use brute force password guessing attacks on WPA/WPA2/WPA3. To get unauthorized access to a network, one needs to crack these security protocols. While most routers currently use WPA or WPA2, a third version called WPA3 was certified a few years ago and is designed to replace the existing protocols. This new protocol was Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA). Now, this can be cracked within minutes.Ī new Wi-Fi security protocol was introduced in 2003. However, it was weak, and several serious weaknesses were found in the protocol. WEP, or Wired Equivalent Privacy, is a deprecated security protocol that was introduced back in 1997 as a part of the original 802.11 standards. WEP and WPA are the two main security protocols used in Wi-Fi LAN. These vulnerabilities exist because of issues in WEP or WPA. Poor encryption is related to security keys used to protect the wireless network. It may include a weak password, a lack of security settings, use of default configurations and other user-related issues. Poor configuration is caused by the network admin who manages the network. One is poor configuration and the other is poor encryption. Two types of vulnerabilities can be found in the Wireless LAN. But in ad hoc networks, there is no access point each node connects in a peer-to-peer way. Infrastructure networks have one or more access points that coordinate the traffic between the nodes. Wireless networks are based on IEEE 802.11 standards defined by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE ) for ad hoc networks or infrastructure networks. Subscribe C’Thun Control Priest (For Annoying Your Opponents)įew things are more annoying than a slow Priest deck, and this is one of the best that I’ve seen in the last few years.Īs is typically the case with good Priest decks, this build thrives based on its ability to clear boards and respond to almost any kind of play. It’s going to take along time to learn this one, but mastering it could be quite a lot of fun for patient players. It’s difficult to kill an opponent in one turn with this one like you could in the old days, but this deck’s draw abilities make it easier to just wear them down over time. It’s kind of hard to see just by looking at the cards, but the goal of this deck is to use cost reduction abilities to burn through your cards while relying on Pen Flinger to hit the opponent’s face. While we’re far removed from the “glory days” of the Miracle Rogue build, this new version of the deck offers a compelling alternative to that classic concept. You can expect this deck to terrorize Hearthstone players in the weeks to come.įorged in the Barrens Control Warlock Deck Code: AAECAf0GBs/SA/zeA87hA/zoA/LtA4WgBAzpvgOsywObzQPM0gPN0gPm4QP14wP44wOS5AOCoASDoATnoAQA A Complicated Miracle Rogue Capable of Fantastic Finishes Even aggressive players struggle to breakthrough Warlock’s revamped health gain and board clear abilities. This deck absolutely steamrolls control players thanks to the power of the new Lord Jaraxxus and this build’s ability to discard most of your opponent’s deck. While this deck will be fine-tuned in the coming weeks, even early versions of this concept are proving to be too much to handle. If you’re looking for the best surefire hit for the early days of Hearthstone’s Forged in the Barrens meta, look no further than this Control Warlock deck. If you want to jump right into the action and start winning games while having fun along the way, then these are the Forged in the Barrens meta decks I recommend to help you get a quick start in Hearthstone‘s next competitive season. In fact, you may even be able to climb to the top of Hearthstone‘s competitive ladder with some of the weirdest and wildest decks I’ve seen in years. The good news is that the quality of the Forged in the Barrens set and recent changes to Hearthstone‘s card format mean that it’s actually possible to play competitively with a variety of interesting builds. We might get SOME in 22.6, but I think that the next big meta change will come with the next expansion.īelow, you will find a full list of the Legend decks from last week, sorted by the highest placement.Hearthstone‘s newest expansion (the Horde-themed Forged in the Barrens) is finally here, which means that it’s time to find your favorite new deck that will dominate the meta and make opponents question their own deckbuilding decisions. I don’t really expect any balance changes for now, though. Some of them shifted in terms of power, others got some minor improvements, but that’s about it. Other than that, we didn’t really get any “new” decks. But I could see how the card can get tiring after a while. While Kazakusan is not exactly balanced (if you get the right treasures, you basically won the game), it looks like players mostly have fun playing it – at least for now. New ones got more defensive and better at dealing with Aggro, but it’s hard to say how everything will progress from now. Of course, the rise of Kazakusan has also lead to a lot of Aggro decks in the meta to punish them, especially the early, unoptimized builds. Faster decks have to rush them and slower decks need to run a Kazakusan of their own or have some other guaranteed win condition (like some sort of combo). Getting it out quickly can lead to a swift win, because the average power of treasures you get from it is much, much higher than something a regular deck can deal with. I’m, of course, talking about Kazakusan, which is mostly played in Druid, but also Warrior and Priest. The card that most (including me) have predicted to be more on a meme side turned out to be the most impactful card of the set. Onyxia’s Lair mini-set has released earlier this week and it has made quite a substantial impact on the meta.
It was good for a relaxed night out with beautiful weather, courteous service and decent food. Our total bill including mocktail and Coke came to 395 which was very reasonable considering that ingredients such as wagyu, foie gras, truffle & softshell crab had been on our orders. Kitchen staff were on point and Elwin brought dishes out to us quickly and very well-timed one after the other. We had the kunafa prawns (tasteless), the beef gyoza (okay), the wagyu, foie gras, truffle nigiri (excellent), the Origami Signature roll (okay), tempura shishito peppers (very good, their batter was so well-seasoned wish there were more of it), soft-shell crab (excellent). Recommend the Origami Passion drink, well blended and delicious. Elwin was our server and he was professional, courteous and quick. We chose to sit outside and outdoors, it was perfectly pleasant. Not the welcoming atmosphere that is much marketed. The kitchen’s harsh tube lights overpower all else. The lighting needs to be improved in the seating areas. Half of the inside seems to have thought put into it and the other half is the same outside black tables lumped together. Not urgent and not important ( Eliminate) – frivolous distractions Urgent but not important ( Delegate) – distractions with deadlines Not urgent but important ( Plan) – long-term development Urgent and important ( Do) – important deadlines and crises Priority should be given in the following order: See also: Eisenhower matrix Matrix of importance versus urgency as discussed in the bookĬovey talks about what is important versus what is urgent. Do not just act think first: Is this how I want it to go, and are these the correct consequences? Before creating something, measure twice. Grow and stay humble, Covey says.Ĭovey says that all things are created twice: Before one acts, one should act in one's mind first. He asks: Are you-right now-who you want to be? What do you have to say about yourself? How do you want to be remembered? If habit 1 advises changing one's life to act and be proactive, habit 2 advises that "you are the programmer". To be effective one needs to act based on principles and constantly review one's mission statements, says Covey. Habit 2: "Begin with the end in mind" Ĭovey discusses envisioning what one wants in the future (a personal mission statement) so one can work and plan towards it, and understanding how people make important life decisions. Covey discusses focusing one's responses and focusing on the center of one's influence. Covey discusses recognizing one's circle of influence and circle of concern. Covey postulates that "between stimulus and response lies your ability to choose" how to react, and that nothing can hurt a person without the person's consent. Proactivity is about taking responsibility for one's reaction to one's own experiences, taking the initiative to respond positively and improve the situation. The first three habits aim at developing from dependence to independence (i.e., self-mastery): Each of the seven habits has a section of the book devoted to it: At birth, everybody is dependent, and characteristics of dependence may linger this is the first and lowest stage of maturity.Ĭovey says that each of the first three habits is intended to help achieve independence, the next three habits are intended to help achieve interdependence, and the seventh habit is intended to help maintain these achievements. These are three successive stages of increasing maturity: dependence, independence, and interdependence. that two people can see the same thing and yet differ from each other.Ĭovey also introduces the maturity continuum. Covey presents his teachings in a series of seven habits, organized as a progression from dependence through independence on to interdependence.Ĭovey uses the concept of paradigm shift and says that different perspectives exist, i.e. He says that values govern people's behavior, while principles ultimately determine the consequences. He sees principles as external natural laws, while values remain internal and subjective. In doing this, Covey distinguishes principles and values. He promotes what he labels the character ethic: aligning one's values with what he claims to be universal and timeless principles. He claims that effectiveness can be expressed in terms of the P/PC ratio, where P refers to getting desired results and PC is caring for that which produces the results.Ĭovey argues against what he calls the personality ethic, that he sees as prevalent in many modern self-help books. He illustrates this by referring to the fable of the goose that laid the golden eggs. Ĭovey defines effectiveness as the balance of obtaining desirable results with caring for that which produces those results. Macroeconomics is just the sum of all the microeconomic activity occurring in the market, but it is helpful to learn them separately first, then make the connections so one can be knowledgeable, no matter where you find yourself operating within this continuum. Reach (which calculates how many accounts an influencer's content will reach) was the second most important metric, with 53% of respondents naming it as a top measure of success. In my Economics education, the curriculum was divided between courses that schooled me in how market phenomena worked at an individual level (microeconomics) and those that taught how to think about the aggregate, system-level forces in the economy (microeconomics). Engagement rates help brands understand how much of an influencer's audience interacts with their content.Īccording to the survey, 69% of marketers said that engagement rates are the most important KPI. Linqia asked marketers to choose their "top three measures of success" for influencer-marketing campaigns, which revealed that engagement rates still reign supreme. Engagement rate is still the most common way to measure the success of a campaign. "For a lot of brands, it comes down to, are you truly trying to influence consumers? Are you trying to build really cool content? And if you're just trying to build really cool content and it's about your channels and your marketing, and it's not about influence necessarily, then the reach of the person doesn't matter." 5. "This is where that whole influencer versus creator conversation happens," Bendes said. Fifty-eight percent of survey respondents reported that they were working with creators in this way. Over half of brands are using creator-generated content for their own social channels.Ĭreator-generated content (also known as user-generated content, or "UGC"), where a creator makes content for a brand that will exclusively live on the brand's own channels, is appealing to brands. "I think it's telling that despite all the innovation and everything we do in this industry, finding the right creator partners is still one of the biggest pain points brands have," Bendes said.Ībout 65% of marketers also said that they'd like to see AI streamline performance analytics for influence marketing. When asked about AI's potential impact on the influencer-marketing industry, about 72% of brands said they would like to see it help them identify the right influencers for campaigns. Most brands hope AI will help them identify the right creators to work with. The percentage of marketers who are hiring celebrities for influencer marketing deals also more than doubled between 20 - from 14% to 29.5%, according to Linqia's data. Meanwhile, more brands said they plan to hire macro influencers for their campaigns this year, increasing from 72% in 2021 to 81% in 2023.īendes said micro-influencer rates have gone up over the past two years, and in some cases, they charge almost the same amount as macro influencers.īut micro influencers haven't lost their appeal completely, and there's still a high demand from brands for their work, he added. This year, the tables have turned - dropping to only 74% of marketers. In 2021, 90% of marketers said they planned to leverage micro influencers in their campaigns, according to Linqia. Brands are looking to work with macro influencers, who gained popularity over micro creators. "It's a much bigger spend, it's a much bigger part of an integrated strategy," Bendes said. On the flip side, 15% of marketers reported budgets of $100,000 or less, per the survey. Influencer-marketing budgets continue to increase despite economic headwinds.Ībout 76% of respondents said their influencer-marketing budgets had either increased or remained the same versus the prior year.īreaking that down even further, 18% of respondents reported seven-figure budgets for influencer marketing in 2023. Linqia surveyed over 250 enterprise brand and agency marketers in July for the report. They want more meaningful partnerships with influencers."
